In this article we'll go through how to export your CAD data from Siemens, using PAR, .X_T, .X_B, .JT, or STEP ready to upload into the platform.
We prefer to work with files exported from PAR as these contain the most data for the platform to process. More data provided, the better the result from our 3D model automation.

Jump to instructions for:
PAR/Native (Preferred)
- Open your assembly in Siemens NX.
- Navigate to File, Save As…
- Choose your preferred name for your file,
- Choose your preferred location to save your file,
- Save as type: .PRT
- Click ‘OK’
- Compress file as zip in Windows/MAC
X_T / X_B
- Open your assembly in Siemens NX.
- Navigate to File, Export and choose Parasolid.
- Choose your preferred name for your file,
- Choose your preferred location to save your file,
- Highlight all the parts on 3d viewport/screen,
- Ensure Option to flatten hierarchy is unticked,
- Choose your preferred name for your file,
- Click OK to export.
JT
- Open your assembly in Siemens NX.
- Navigate to File, Export and choose JT.
- In the pop up, use Export Selected Objects and select the general assembly on the screen.
- Choose your preferred location to export your file to,
- Choose your preferred name for your file,
- Organise JT files via ‘As assembly and folder of parts’
- Include PMI Parts and assemblies
- Click OK to export.
STEP
- Open your assembly in Siemens NX.
- Navigate to File → Export
- In the first Tab ‘Files’
- Choose STEP 242 if available
- Choose STEP 214 only if 242 is unavailable as this won’t contain as much information for Partful to process.
- Choose your preferred location to export your file to,
- Choose your preferred name for your file,
- Click OK to set your name and location
- Click ‘Data to Export’ Tab
- Export
- Curves
- Sheets
- Solids
- Facet Bodies
- Coordinate systems
- PMI
- Click OK to export.
